Psalm 119:97-104

Scripture: Psalm 119:97-104

Mem

Oh how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long.

Your commands are always with me and make me wise than my enemies.

I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your statutes.

I have more understanding than the elders, for I obey your precepts.

I have kept my feet from every evil path so that I might obey your word.

I have not departed from your laws, for you yourself have taught me.

How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

I gain understanding from your precepts; therefore I hate every wrong path.

Observation:

Clearly the author is very thankful and full of praise for the word of God. What came to me today as I meditated on these verses is “choice”. The reason he can be so joyful is that he chose to study and follow God’s law. “I have kept”, “I have not departed”, “for I obey”, “for I meditate”. Perseverance has seemingly brought victory and joy in his life

Application:

Remembering that everything is about choice. I can choose to have a bad attitude, I can choose to a good attitude. I can choose to read the word and obey the word, or I can choose to not, and endure the consequences. God gave us the freedom to choose, I need to always remember that.

Prayer:

Lord I give thanks for your word once again. I know Your ways are perfect, You know what is best for me. God, I know it’s my choice to follow and obey, help me to be obedient. I want to have Your wisdom and insight, I want to obey all Your ways, help me to not falter in this. I want Your words to be as sweet as honey and I want to hate every wrong path. Thank you Lord, in Jesus name, amen.
