Psalm 119:161-168

Scripture: Psalm 119:161-168

Sin and Shin

Rulers persecute me without cause, but my heart trembles at your word.

I rejoice in your promise like one who finds great spoil.

I hate and abhor falsehood but I love your law.

Seven times a day I praise you for your righteous laws.

Great peace have they who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble.

I wait for your salvation, O Lord, and I follow your commands.

I obey your statutes, for I love them greatly.

I obey your precepts and your statues, for all my ways are known to you.

Observation:

Some real truth here that I have been able to experience first hand before. “great peace have they who love your law” I can remember before I was a Christian that the thought of death, or just someone I knew was going to die, would get me very anxious, panicky, scared and whatever. Then I noticed after I had the Holy Spirit living in me that there was no more anxiety, but a peace that really made no sense, but it was there.

I like the verse “seven times a day…”  the author is remembering God all throughout the day, noticing the blessings, being thankful, remembering God’s promises and rejoicing in them.

Application:

The intentional “remembering” of God working in my life, and not allowing the busy day to distract me from taking time to notice the blessings all around me. How often does one negative thing overshadow the hundreds of blessings all around us?

Prayer:

God, help me stay focused on your blessing and your incredible works today. Help me not get caught up in negativity or problems, but rather, praise You for all that you do and all that your Word promises. God I thank you for your incredible peace and your Holy Spirit that guides and directs me every day. Help me to understand His guidance and be obedient to it. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
