Scripture: verses that stood out to me today were vs. 24-25
“At this point Festus interrupted Paul’s defence. ” you are out of our mind, Paul!” he shouted. “your great learning is driving you insane.” “I am not insane, most excellent Festus, ” Paul replied ” what I am saying is true and reasonable.
Observation: throughout this whole chapter, Paul is so incredibly respectful. He shared his story in a way that was not offensive or rude, and even when Festus very blatantly interrupted him and accused him of being mad, Paul very politely addressed it. How often would we get riled up from someone not agreeing with our point of view or saying things that seemingly oppose us. Even this week I had a situation that arose that really ruffled my feathers, and I had to really pray and think it through before I responded. Paul just did it naturally.
Application: the Word tells us we do not fight against flesh and blood, but against powers and principalities. In other words, we fight against Satan. When if face opposition, I need to remember to present the facts and if they don’t agree with me, then so be it. Always respectful, but not run over either.
Prayer: Lord, what an example Paul is to us all. Thank for the courage and the integrity of Paul, and the lesson this teaches us all. God, I pray to always have that same integrity. May my words always be true, and may I always address everyone with respect. Show me Lord if I fail in this area in any way. Teach me to overcome any shortcomings in this area. Thank you Jesus for the many blessings that you give each and every day. Amen
