Scripture: vs. 18, 19 “and may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how deep his love is. may you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fulness of life and power that comes from God.”
Observation : this is a well known and very often quoted piece of scripture. It feels to me that Paul is using irony to get his point across here. He wants us all to understand God’s love, then in the next breath he says we will never fully understand. THEN we will be made complete. It’s a never ending journey. We will not ever fully get there in this life. Paul is saying, I think, keep seeking. Keep searching. Keep learning. Keep praying. We will experience and do amazing things now, but there is always more to discover and experience.
Application: question to myself, how much do I comprehend the vastness of God’s love for me? My mission, keep seeking God’s truth. Keep learning. I should never catch myself saying I know enough.
Prayer: God, what an awesome reminder today. Your love is greater than I could ever comprehend. Thank you again for the sacrifice of Jesus for me. I ask for a greater understanding of all this, Lord show me today something new that will help me on this journey. In Jesus name, amen.
