30 Days Through the Bible-God’s Judgement

Scripture: Romans 2:5-11

But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. 6 God “will repay each person according to what they have done.” 7 To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. 8 But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger. 9 There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile; 10 but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 11 For God does not show favoritism.

Observation: His judgement really is very simple. If you accept Christ and follow Him, this is good news for you. If you reject Christ and follow the world, bad news for you. God is just, meaning, it is very black and white. He does not show favoritism. He loves us all the same, He judges us the same. It is really simple, we are the ones who complicate it.

Application: God warns us many times not to judge others. We have no right to do so, but yet, we still tend to compare ourselves to others to try and elevate our level of spirituality or level of goodness. We need to remember, God looks at us in two ways, either we are His children, or we’re not (or not yet) Either we are under grace or we are not. He loves us all, but judgement will be different depending which side of the fence you are standing. Let’s not elevate ourselves above others.

Prayer: Thank you that we are your children, and you show no favoritism. Help me to be persistent in doing good. Help me to constantly seek your face, to do your will. Thank you for your righteous judgement. In Jesus name, amen
