Memory verse: Everything in the heavens and earth is yours, O Lord, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as being in control of everything.  1 Chronicles 29:11

 

“so don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What shall we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” Matthew 6:31-33

Probably one of the hardest things for any of us to do is to allow God to be in control

“We adore you as being in control of everything” 1 Chronicles 29:11

We often tend to shrink God down to our own abilities and limitations, not understanding how big He really is. God promises to provide for our needs in His Word. Since he promises to provide for us, we can count on that promise. What we cannot predict, however, is how He will do that. He may provide for us through other people. He may open an opportunity at a job. He may provide by teaching us different priorities. And one way He may help us is by teaching us how to properly handle our money. This is why it is critical to study and understand God’s method of handling our finances and possessions.

“and we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” Romans 8:28

Consider the story of Joseph. He was sold as a slave by his brothers, falsely accused of a crime, imprisoned and forgotten about. But Joseph remained faithful to the Lord, and trusted in His provision. Now we must understand God did not put him in prison or cause his brothers to sell him, but rather He took the circumstance and had a plan on how to use it for good. And thus, because of Josephs faithfulness and God’s promise, he was able to become one of the most powerful and influencial people in Egypt. God only wants good for His people.

It is important to realize that God controls and uses even difficult circumstances for good in the life of a godly person. How does this kind of perspective impact you personally today?

 

Prayer: Lord, thank you for wanting the best for me. Thank you for causing my circumstances to work for good. Help me Lord to completely trust in your promises. Thank you for promising to provide for my needs. Show me how to be faithful in all that you have blessed me with. Lord I know that even in the difficult circumstances, you are there for me. Thank you Lord for how mighty you are. In Jesus name, Amen.
